Ph.D. student, Department of Psychiatry, The Chinese University of Hong Kong
I am a Ph.D. student in Psychiatry at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). I study how to take AI for health from everyday data to clinical evidence, working around one research cycle: sensing behavior through digital phenotyping, modeling it with AI algorithms and agents, evaluating those agents, and validating them in randomized trials.
At CUHK, I am working around this cycle for sleep and mental health. I collect wearable (Actigraph, Huawei, Samsung) and daily-diary data through apps I built — SmartSleep for the RGC Theme-based Research Scheme project 智•好瞓 Smart Sleep, and 乐眠无忧. I am developing a motivational interviewing chatbot and validating it in a randomized controlled trial, building models that predict adherence and remission in self-help digital CBT-I, and developing AI agents that deliver imagery rehearsal therapy and CBT-I.
Before that, at The University of Hong Kong and the Laboratory of Data Discovery for Health (D²4H), I took vaccine communication around the full cycle: mapping public perspectives on vaccines and health AI from social media, building multilingual vaccine chatbots and an AI fact-checking browser extension, benchmarking large language models on multilingual vaccine knowledge, and testing the chatbots in randomized trials across Asia. This work has appeared in Nature Medicine, JAMA Network Open, npj Digital Medicine, and JMIR.
